How Cart Rebound works

Follow a cart from activity to a restored checkout and attributed paid order.

From cart activity to a measured recovery

The workflow stays inside WooCommerce and uses settings you control.

  1. 01

    A cart is captured

Cart contents and permitted checkout context are stored in the WordPress database.

  2. 02

    The idle threshold passes

A scheduled scan marks an eligible cart abandoned after your configured interval.

  3. 03

    A reminder is sent

The optional automated email uses your template and WordPress mail delivery.

  4. 04

    Checkout is restored

The tokenized link rebuilds the available cart and returns the shopper to checkout.

  5. 05

    The paid order is linked

Cart Rebound records the relationship and reports recovered order value.

A return link built for the original cart

Products, quantities, variations, and still-valid coupons are restored while WooCommerce remains the source of truth for availability and pricing.

A saved cart returns through a tokenized link while WooCommerce rechecks current checkout rules.
Cart Rebound Recovery control plane
  1. Saved cart Products, quantities, and variations
  2. Tokenized link A private return path
  3. Checkout Current store rules are checked again
  4. Attributed order An explicit recovery record link

Before you switch on automation

Run the path on a staging store. Confirm cart capture, scheduled tasks, template rendering, email delivery, the recovery URL, checkout restoration, and paid-order attribution. Review the setup guide and the compatibility notes before production use.

Check the stages that depend on your store

Scheduling, mail delivery, restoration, and attribution each have a separate source of truth.

What does the recovery link restore?

A secure tokenized link can rebuild products, quantities, variations, and applied coupons, then return the shopper to checkout. Availability and current product rules are still respected by WooCommerce.

How are background checks scheduled?

Cart Rebound uses Action Scheduler when available and falls back to WP-Cron. Reliable store traffic or a real server cron improves the consistency of WordPress scheduled work.

How is recovered revenue attributed?

A paid order is counted as recovered when it is explicitly linked to a tracked recovery record. This avoids treating unrelated orders as recovered revenue.

Do I need a separate email service?

Cart Rebound sends through WordPress wp_mail(). Many production stores connect WordPress to an SMTP or transactional email provider for stronger deliverability.
